A Part Of Airlie Beach

Hospitality inspires us. Anticipating each person’s needs, whether that’s a quick grab-and-go, information about the area, or a real conversation with a customer, is what makes the Sidewalk Cafe experience different.

Our staff
make it all possible

Sidewalk Cafe employs hospitality industry professionals who’ve found a home in Airlie Beach. Everyone helps each other — no job is too big or too small, whether that’s washing dishes, making a coffee, cleaning, or offering service to people from all walks of life.

Jo, venue manager extraordinaire, has been in the hospitality industry for 30 years. She constantly evolves her service experience to meet customer needs. You’ll find her drinking a long black or a double ristretto on the go. She loves the Almond Dream smoothie—a meal in a cup if you don’t have time to eat.

With 12 years of hospitality experience, Rachael makes a mean coffee. Her favourite coffee is the piccolo because it gives you a nice strong taste of coffee without being too heavy. She recommends the almond dream smoothie and the miso glazed chicken waffles at Sidewalk Cafe. “I love the team. Everyone is so friendly and like a family at Sidewalk Cafe. I also love the view of the water and the location,” she says.

Cody, the restaurant bar manager and a hospitality professional for 10 years, loves the Sidewalk Cafe team, the regulars, and people excited for their time on the Whitsundays. His favourites from the cafe are the latte and miso glazed chicken waffles.

Simon, is the master of drinks. He’s been a barista and bartender for 12 years. His coffee order is down to a science: 60 ml water, double shot, 30 mL cream—in other words, a long black with a side of cream. He also loves the house draft beer and the Caesar salad with as many anchovies as humanely possible.

Andy, with 11 years in the hospitality industry, knows how to keep customers happy. His go-to coffee is a long black, and he loves lemongrass chicken burgers and eggs benedict with housemade hollandaise. Airlie Beach is his home, and he tries not to take the core community and the beautiful landscape that surrounds him for granted.

Tina, loves an iced latte to cool off in the Australian sun. She’s one of our baristas. Her favourite menu items? A BLT and flat white. “I like that Sidewalk Cafe is really a local cafe, which means we have lots of regular customers,” she says.

Join The Family

“The owners and staff make working at Sidewalk a pleasure. We have had such a good team for quite some time. It’s like an extended family. This also extends to the locals, some who we see every day, also become part of the Sidewalk family.”

– Jo, Sidewalk Cafe manager

“Sidewalk for me in the last year has felt like a family…I’ve met some great friends, staff, and some of our die-hard regulars. It’s a pleasure to come to work knowing we, as a team, do a great job day in and day out. A massive shout out to you Chris and Rachel, you have elevated your business by caring about your staff and your business.”

– Andy, Sidewalk Cafe server
